All together now: "In the not-too-distant future…" Yes, that's right! Mystery Science Theater 3000 is bringing its hilarious live show to Buell Theatre on Saturday 15th February 2020! Join original hostage janitor (and the show's creator) Joel, as well as Jonah, Tom, Crow, and Gypsy, as they riff on some truly shocking films on The Great Cheesy Movie Circus Tour! The shudder-worthy movies in question are… No Reatreat, No Surrender (1989) and Circus of Horrors (1960)! It's gonna be hilarious!
The brainchild of American writer, comedian and television actor Joel Hodgson (known on the show as Joel Robinson), Mystery Science Theater 3000 an American television comedy series that follows a hostage janitor as his is forced to watch and endure B-movies with only his homemade robots as company, as part of a plan to destroy the earth, concocted by two mad scientists. Conceived in 1988 and airing on The Comedy Channel/Comedy Central from 1989-1996 and The Sci-Fi Channel 1997-1999, the show was revived via a crowdfunding page in 2015 and began airing again on Netflix in 2017 with a new cast that features Jonah Ray as the new human test subject (known in the show as Jonah Heston), Felicia Day and Patton Oswalt as the “mads”, and Baron Vaughn, Hampton Yount, and Rebecca Hanson as the “bots”.
