Shen Yun Performing Arts at Buell Theatre

Shen Yun was founded in 2006 and is a United States-based non-profit performing arts and entertainment company that tours internationally, producing traditional and acrobatic dance performances and symphony concerts. The company is composed of seven performing arts companies, with a total of approximately 480 performers, and has since 2010, performed in front of 10 million people, touring to more than 130 cities across Europe, North America, Oceania, and Asia. Each touring company consists of about 40 male and female dancers, who perform mainly classical and traditional Chinese dances, making extensive use of acrobatic and tumbling techniques, forms and postures.

The stated purpose of the company was to revive Chinese culture and traditions from the time before Communist rule. Drawing courage and inspiration from their practice of Falun Dafa, and including important works that shed a light on the plight of people like them in communist China today. The traditional Chinese culture Shen Yun presents cannot be seen anywhere else in the world, not even in China.
