Below are the ground rules for anyone attending events at Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre. Please make sure you know the rules and regulations before attending any event.
Enhanced security measures may be put in place including bag checks and metal detectors. The Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre has a touchless screening system that is not only safe and accurate but its seamless pace can eliminate long entry lines.

Dress Code

The Denver Performing Arts Complex has no specific dress code – patrons often choose to wear smart/casual or cocktail attire.

Arrival Time

The doors open 1 hour before performances. All patrons are advised to arrive early for screening. Those who refuse screening may be denied entry into the Arts Complex.

Child Policy

All Buell Theatre performances require that a ticket be purchased for children. For the rules on a specific show, please contact the theatre directly. Please be advised that some productions may not be suitable for children under the age of four.

Permitted Items:

Empty or factory-sealed water bottles
Bags smaller than 12” x 12” x 12” (must fit under designated seat)

Prohibited Items:

Please note: The items listed below are subject to change or vary on show day and Management reserves the right to refuse any item/s deemed unsafe or hold the potential to cause a distraction.

All outside food and beverages including alcohol
Marijuana and drugs without a prescription
Laser pointers
Coolers
Audio or video recording devices, GoPros, professional cameras or cameras with removable lenses
Weapons or items construed as weapons (including, but not limited to: firearms, knives exceeding 3.5 inches, sharp-edged objects, mace and pepper spray, tasers, props/toys)
Bullhorns or noisemakers
Balloons
Selfie Sticks
Confetti, glitter and other items that can be thrown
Large hats or accessories that may limit the view of other patrons
Commercial signage
Animals (except service animals)
Bicycles and scooters
Patrons bringing skateboards, inline skates, hoverboards, or strollers will be asked to check them at the theatre
Bags larger than 12” x 12” x 12”
Unapproved pamphlets, handouts, advertisements

Exceptions will be made for patrons with disabilities, medical requirements as well as those with special needs. For additional information, we recommend contacting the theater before attending an event. This allows time for reasonable accommodations to be made.

Patron Code of Conduct

Patrons are entitled to an environment where everyone:
Receives consistent, professional, and courteous treatment from all theater staff.
Feels comfortable reporting inappropriate behavior to ushers, house managers, or security.
Complies with venue staff and security instructions on facility operations and emergency response procedures.
Sits only in assigned seats and shows tickets when requested.
Consumes alcohol responsibly and in compliance with the law.
Does not disrupt the event or performers.
Does not smoke or use tobacco products inside the theater.
Does not attempt to re-enter without a ticket or proper credential.
Wears a shirt, shoes, and lower garments at all times.

Please note: Patrons engaging in disruptive behavior, such as fighting, throwing objects, using offensive language or gestures, attempting to enter restricted areas, or any actions negatively impacting others, will be immediately removed from the venue and may face police intervention for these violations.
